This happened a month or two ago, when I was thinking of rebuilding my system anyway, so I just put a new drive in and installed clean, slaved the old drive and have been pulling my data over as needed ever since.
Well now it just happened again, and I'm not even done moving my data, so it's all spread between two drives, neither of which will boot except to safe mode or command prompt only.
And what gets me is that I have no way of figuring out what caused this to happen. I rebooted last night for whatever reason - there were no problems, I just felt like rebooting - and as it was coming back up it gave the above error in text mode before showing my desktop. Grr. So it could be anything I changed since the last time I rebooted.
Well f*** that!
I give up. Why do computers suck so much?
Maybe I'll just live computerless for a while and see how that affects my life. Only at home, anyway. I'll still be sitting at this one 8 hours a day at work. I'd love to take one of these home as my own though... these Dell Optiplexes are good solid machines. We never have problems with them here. Sure the MHz aren't even half what I have, but you know what? I don't care. The frappin video bus can show animated GIFs without choking. Things just plain work. I'd rather have that than a 2GHz superproblem workstation.
Maybe instead of using my computers at home from now on I'll just go jogging instead. Yeah, that'll be better for me anyway. At least I can rest assured the concrete sidewalk ahead of me will still be there after a butterfly lands on it.
Ah, who am I kidding, I'll probably be trying to fix my stupid computer constantly for the next few days.
