I always figured you'd be the one setting something like that up someday. It would be even cooler if it was all done live instead of recorded and pre-set.

Seriously, uh... it takes hours and hours of choreography to put together a light show like that. The only exception might be if you can feed it MIDI files or some other note-based format, in which case I could see a program being written to interpret that into lights in real time.

I wouldn't be so naive as to think it could NEVER be done... Surely someday computers will be fast and intelligent enough to interpret every instrumental note from live audio, but I'm sorry to say I doubt I'll be the one to make that happen. :) For now we seem to be stuck with media player style visualizations, which basically consist of layering filters on top of an oscilloscope. And that just creates video... not exactly a format ready for controlling 1000 channels of lights.
