Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... I looked around the next day and couldn't find any signs of where it struck. But there's a small field beyond our back yard and about 7 other back yards encircle it, with tall trees all around, so it could have struck any of them where I can't see. I'd guess within a few hundred feet the lightning still would have seemed to be right on top of us.
